Pesticides Concerns

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

The overuse of pesticides and other chemicals are cause for great concern. Like no other time in history, our food chain is full of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fumigants and fertilizers laced with heavy metals, all of which are toxic to humans. And to make matters worse, we have food additives, preservatives and artificial flavorings and colorings pervading the products in our supermarkets. Fruits and vegetables, which is supposed to be health food are sprayed and treated with ripening agents and waxed to make them look appealing to the eye. Toxic chemicals are everywhere, in our homes, in our water and in the air we breathe.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency also did a study that showed us that indoor pollution is just as worrisome, in most cases more serious because people spend so much time inside. Indoor pollution levels average two to five times greater than outdoor pollution and in some cases up to 100 percent higher. That is something to be worried about. There are many indoor pollutants that people don’t even know about that are harming them. Things like animal hair, asbestos, bedding, carbon monoxide, disinfectants, dust, electromagnetic fields, formaldehyde in building materials and many other products, hair sprays, household cleaning products, lead, radiation from microwaves, television screens and computer monitors, mold, paint, pollen, pesticides, radon, solvents and tobacco smoke all significantly compromise our health. In fact, some product in the home such as certain plastics that emit styrene, benzene (which also happens to be in ice cream), 4-PC chemicals from carpet and formaldehyde from kitchen cabinets and other wood work all emit volatile components in the air.

So if all of this is a problem, what can we do about it? Of course, we should watch what we eat. As many holistic nutritionists would agree, you will find that it is very beneficial to consume as much whole foods as possible. Read your labels and keep in mind that processed foods are one of the biggest sources for the toxin build up in our systems; the very toxins that reflexology strives to rid the body of. Outside of a whole foods diet, make sure to drink plenty of water, cut down, or better yet eliminate caffeine, eat a well-balanced diet, exercise and get adequate rest. Reflexology will help take care of the rest!

You may be asking how that is possible? Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure in a strategic manner to reflexes of the feet and hands, and even the face and ears. By stimulating nerves on specific areas of the feet and hands, we can stimulate blood flow and eliminate toxin buildup in the corresponding areas of the body. Furthermore, reflexology stimulates the lymphatic system and encourages the release of endorphins, the natural feel good hormones that are well documented in relieving the effects of stress. Reflexology is meant to bring your body to a state of well-being. Only in this state is your body able to heal itself. When your body is full of toxins, your immune system is severely compromised, making you much more likely to succumb to sickness. Reflexology is a beneficial tool for improving circulation, relieving pain, and as an immune and nervous system stimulator.

In fact, many people with illnesses such as allergies; chronic sinus problems; acid reflux; migraines; PMS; menopause; insomnia; fertility problems; fibromyalgia; depression and even arthritis report significantly improved conditions as a result of the treatment. No matter what your state of health is at this time, reflexology can be a part of good preventative care. Without effectively eliminating toxins from our organs, they will eventually cause havoc and we will be led down the path of sickness and disease. In a society that relies heavily on chemically laden prescription drugs, psychotherapy and surgical procedures to “heal” the sick, it is more than time to put matters into your own hands.

A Few Thoughts on Gardening

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

There’s nothing more money saving than growing your own vegetables and cooking from scratch.  You get a little exercise whilst you’re tending your garden, then get to eat all the goodies you’ve grown, plus you save a whole load of money as well.  However, if you’re the gardener, it’s important to look after yourself and to make sure that you don’t overdo the digging.  Take small spits of soil with the spade, straighten up frequently, try not to bend your spine and don’t dig for more than 20 minutes at a time.  Once you’ve done all the hard work, treat yourself to something simple as a reward, maybe put your feet up and read a good book, or have a soak in the bath.

Whenever I’m in the garden, or out in the countryside, my little Jack Russell tags along for the ride.  He’s not much use at cultivating the garden, but he does like to dig – great big holes where I don’t want them, so I quite often have to distract him with toys if I don’t want my efforts to be ruined.  However, he has his uses.  He’s always on pest control regarding the rats that come down from the Moor looking for a nice warm compost heap to hide in.  He sees them off pretty quickly.

This time of year there’s not too much going on in the garden, especially with dark evenings and wet days, but it’s a good time to plan ahead for next year’s planting.  There should be plenty of green vegetables to harvest still, as all the brassicas will last in the ground over winter, such as brussels sprouts, kale, cabbage and the like. I tend to harvest them when they’re young and tender, as I prefer this to trying to chew my way through fibrous, bitter greens.  The winter months are also a good time to burn rubbish and have a general tidy up, getting rid of any dead, diseased prunings.  Other than that, it’s back to sitting by the fire with a good gardening book – happy gardening!

Why employing a credit card debt settlement law firm is way more helpful than a normal company

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Unless you are existing under a rock, one should acknowledge that over the past couple of years the US economic system has certainly gone down south. People have been losing employment, their houses, and many their sanity. A single trouble that has definitely been haunting people since this has happened is increased amounts of credit card debt. Individuals can be found trying to control great monthly payments that do not seem to decline in addition to apr’s which are completely ridiculous.

One program that has been certainly proving to be a winner for most debtors is debt settlement; however there are two kinds of credit card debt settlement services. Currently, there are programs that can be put in place with a law firm and then programs that can be created with a normal sized service. The former is what may really give borrowers a superb possible opportunity to become debt free in the least amount of time with the least amount of headaches.

With debt settlement the card holder should always fall into delinquency on their payments and save money on the side. This will allow them to when possible work out a one time lump sum final payment and close the debt out. On most occasions the individual will save close to 1/2 what they owe and also find themselves out of debt in just a couple years.

That is very good; however there are one or two downsides with credit card debt settlement that can make employing a lawyer much more useful to the client. For starters once you fall pastdue on the bills the credit card banks will attempt to collect the financial obligation by way of calls. A lawyer will have the ability to under legal standing prevent collection agencies from consistently harassing the client, at which a company cannot.

One more downside to the credit card debt settlement system will be the possibility of getting sued. With having employed a lawyer, then they will be able to legally contact and still settle with a collector who is making an attempt to take an individual to the courtroom. This is a massive advantage for people when using a credit card debt negotiation law firm over a company.

Possibly though the most important reason to use a lawyer is because credit card debt settlement corporations are going extinct. The Federal Trade Commission and other regulatory bodies want to close down credit card debt settlement companies that are not founded adequately and many are not put in place accurately. Thus making the usage of a lawyer must more advantageous. When a credit card debt settlement corporation is going out of business and does not have the money to pay back its clients who they now can’t service, who gets screwed? The client!

So if you have have discovered yourself to be stuck in troublesome quantities of personal credit card debt then contacting a credit card debt settlement law firm is probably an awfully great thought for you and your families economical safety. Being drowning in unsecured credit card debt that could in no way go away is a quite stupid economic move to make and can make investing money almost impossible for the everyday American. You will come to discover how much less demanding month to month bill management might become after you no longer need to worry about costly credit card bills that must be paid with no end in view.

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

As the recession doesn’t seem to be passing any time soon, now is the time more than ever too, focus on marketing, communicating with customers, generating leads and more than anything else – selling! Exhibitions and trade shows are a fantastic way to achieve all of these aims.

Stand out from your competitors.
In a crowded market, it is essential that your company stand out from the crowd. Everything can begin to look all the same at exhibitions, so make your business stand out from the crowd. This doesn’t mean that you have to spend a fortune on your exhibition equipment. However quality graphics and quality exhibition stands can really make the difference. It’s critical that you know what your competitors are doing, and also what they aren’t so that you can make your time at the exhibition successful.

Highlight your USP’s.
Every successful product or service has unique selling points (USPs). It is important that you highlight the things that make them special. The biggest brands always emphasise their unique features, and this is the thing that will entice customers to buy your product over another companies. Is it the design that makes your product unique, is the ease of use, the appeal to the family market? If you don’t look like anything special, customers will naturally gravitate towards another company that does. In a difficult economic climate, your business needs every edge it’s got, so it’s a good idea to really play up all the positive and unique elements of your service or product.

Think like your customers.
It is important to put yourself in the place of your customer. As the market changes and the downturn really takes hold, so do the needs of customers and the issues that they care about. And so must your messaging. Whether your customers are companies or consumers, everyone will be feeling the pinch. What does your product offer them during this touch economic climate? Will it save them money during a time when there’s not much around to save? Will it provide them with a little luxury, when it seems everything else is being taken away? If you really try and think like your customers and understand how to position your company to customers in relation to market conditions, it will definitely help you stay in line with what’s on customers’ minds.

Keep in touch with your core customers.
And there is no better way to do this than at trade shows and exhibition fairs. Competitors will be working harder than ever to poach your business, and your customers will be more aware than ever before of their buying power. Although expanding the business through marketing activities is essential, don’t lose sight of the need to retain your core customer base and establish and maintain good relations with them. Repeat ordering is vital for every business too, so talk to your customers at the show and tell them that you value their business. Finding out what they hope to get out of the event will tell you what you need to change for next time.

Create a good impression.
People make descisions based on early impressions. You might have a great product, but customers will see the effort you have put into your presence at the exhibition. Although it might seem basic, poor spelling, punctuation and grammar gives the indication of a lack of quality control, and a lack of effort on your part, so get it right. Check and double your literature and graphics, use quality exhibition equipment. Rather than cutting corners, make your exhibition budget work harder for you. Consider Modular Display Stands over expensive custom built stands. Modular Portable Systems represent a far higher return on investment. These stands are less expensive, easier to transport, easier to erect and they can be reconfigured for larger or smaller events in the future.

In short, exhibiting can work out well for your company if you get it right. Don’t be tempted to cancel your plans to exhibit at your normal trade show or industry event. Business-to-Business trade shows are still recognised as the best place to find out what is happening in your market sector and to express your confidence in what your company has to offer. Why not let POD Exhibition Systems help you out with your portable display stands?
